Hartmann Valves pigging ball valves combine the advantages of the metallic sealing ball valve and in addition to classic applications function as shut-off valves for pigging insertion or removal valves.

The advantages at a glance:

Hartmann pig valves offer a space- and cost-saving substitution for expensive pig trap systems. In addition to the classic application as a shut-off valve, the pig ball valve functions as a pig launcher and receiver.

A laterally integrated lock gate, which is locked and secured by a bayonet system, allows pigs to be inserted and removed easily, quickly and safely.

In addition to our classic pigging ball valve, we now also offer pigging ball valves with multiple safety barrier.

NEW: PIGGING BALL VALVES WITH MULTIPLE SAFETY BARRIER

The new Hartmann pigging ball valve with multiple safety barrier to the sluice room enables the safe and easy launching and receiving of pigs even with (residual) pressure in the main line. In this way, complex pigging systems can be replaced, the pigging process simplified and safety significantly increased at the same time.

The sluice room is separately closed off by at least two additionally installed seat rings. Pressure gauges are used to monitor the sluice pressure. If the first barrier of the pipeline to the dead storage is leaking, the second barrier seals against the interlock and the sluice gate can still be closed without danger.

Further application examples:

  • Ball valve filter unit with removable sieve basket filter in the ball
    The sieve basket filter integrated in the ball enables the filter to be cleaned or replaced if there is still (residual) pipeline pressure. This avoids the need for time-consuming pipeline assembly.
  • Ball valve with check valves in the ball
    The check valves prevent for example the backflow of a medium.
  • Ball valve for the temporary insertion and removal of measuring equipment
  • Ball valve with control wheel
    The control wheel allows the flow to be throttled.

The sieve basket filters, pig trap grids, check valves (also 180° rotatable) and control wheels can be dismantled and interchanged. The result is a genuine multi-function ball valve that also offers full flow after removal of the respective built-in part.
Many other applications can be realised and are also available for the medium hydrogen.

PIGGING BALL VALVES IN THE STANDARD VERSION

Hartmann standard pigging ball valves are available as:

  • Pig ball valve for cleaning applications
  • Pig ball valve for cleaning operations with additional bypass in the closed position (for applications where the medium flow is not to be interrupted completely)
  • Pig ball valve for separating different products within one pipeline

In the standard version Hartmann Valves pigging ball valves are designed for a maximum pig length of 1.4 x nominal diameter of the pipe line. Upon request, we are pleased to offer you special constructions for spherical pigs or cylindrical pigs longer than 1.1 to 1.4 x diameter up to a maximum of 2.0 x diameter.

For the insertion or removal of the pig the ball is rotated by 90°, meaning it is rotated into the closed position. Prior to the opening of the interlock the housing interior is depressurized via a release valve, then the bayonet catch is unlocked and opened with a left turn. The pig can now be inserted and removed through the interlock.

An optional bypass in the closed position also enables cleaning if the media flow is not to be completely interrupted. In addition, the pig valve can be used to separate different products in a pipeline. A 3-step redundant safety concept and the metal-to-metal sealing barrier guarantee maximum availability for the operation and cleaning of oil, gas, sludge and water applications.

The innovative pig ball valve concept is already used as a global standard solution by well-known oil companies.
